Meet Milliner Jasmin Zorlu, Saturday December 5th, 2-5pm

Heavily inspired by the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s, Jasmin Zorlu Millinery employs innovative materials such as fishskin (tanned fish leather), upcycled leather, abalone shells, and fruit bags to create futuristic headwear which transcend traditional notions of design and time. Mostly eschewing employment of trims like flowers, ribbons, and feathers, her hats reveal their form simply and sculpturally. Jasmin Zorlu Millinery aims to create exciting headwear which will achieve heirloom status and still look fresh 100 years from now.

I’ve been making hats night and day. It gives me a sense of calmness and stability. There is something magical about taking fabric, cutting it, and sewing it into a hat. It always gives me such a rush when I bring new hats into the store and someone falls in love with a new hat. It is such a feeling of instant gratification to watch a customer purchase one of my hats.
Here is a picture of a ton of fabric I have in my studio. I definitely have a fabric addiction and am going on another 6 months of fabric buying restriction.
